 Our History

In 1998 while studying Art at the City of Bath College, Demian Bellaart became increasingly interested in working with metal, due to the vast possibilities this versatile material offered.

He soon recognized that this was the medium he wanted to dedicate himself to and undertook blacksmith courses to acquire the additional skills, essential for realizing his dream of setting up his own forge.

Taking a shortcut one day on his way home from college, he stumbled across two abandoned chapels in St. Michaels Cemetery.

He set about converting the beautiful octagonal chapel into his workshop while using the adjacent building as an additional studio and established “The Chapel Forge”.

Today, with 14 years’ practical experience, and a portfolio of works stretching far beyond the Bath area, he and his skilled team regard these peaceful surroundings as the perfect setting, for blending design and craftsmanship to transform raw metal into various works of art.
